Legal & privacy
The fine print.
Transparency and clarity in our digital partnerships. Written in plain English, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.
01
Trademark & brand
EB Web Services UK is an independent web studio operating as a sole trader in Manchester, England. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in partnership with any third-party brand, platform or organisation unless explicitly stated.
All third-party logos, trademarks and brand assets referenced on this website or in our portfolio — including but not limited to Figma, Framer, WordPress, React, Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase, Netlify and Paystack — are the property of their respective owners and are used descriptively only.
Our own brand assets, including the EBWS UK name, logo and site designs, are original works. Unauthorised reproduction is not permitted.
02
General service terms
EB Web Services UK provides bespoke web development, design and related digital services. By engaging our services you agree to the following:
- Full ownership of final deliverables transfers to the client on receipt of final payment in full.
- Prior to final payment, all work-in-progress files, designs and code remain the intellectual property of EB Web Services UK.
- Project timelines are agreed at the outset. Delays caused by the client — late feedback, content supply or payment — may affect delivery dates without penalty to us.
- We reserve the right to display completed work in our portfolio unless the client requests otherwise in writing before the project commences.
- All pricing quoted is subject to change. Confirmed project quotes are held for 30 days from the date of issue.
03
Intellectual property
All original code, design systems, templates and creative concepts produced by EB Web Services UK remain our intellectual property until paid for in full. After final payment:
- The client owns all bespoke code and design assets created specifically for their project.
- Any third-party libraries, plugins or frameworks used remain under their respective open-source or commercial licences.
- EB Web Services UK retains the right to reuse general methodologies, techniques and non-client-specific components in future projects.
Our in-house templates — including Drift/Eden, Nevulis, Aguila and The Observatory — remain exclusively owned by EB Web Services UK and are not transferred as part of any client package unless explicitly agreed in writing.
04
Privacy & data
We take your privacy seriously. This is exactly what we collect and why:
- Contact form submissions — name, email address, phone number, social handles, project type, budget range, timeline and project brief. Used solely to respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
- No data is sold to third parties under any circumstances.
- No marketing lists. Submitting the contact form does not subscribe you to anything.
- Form submissions are processed through Netlify Forms, our hosting provider's form service. Their privacy policy governs how submissions are handled in transit and at rest.
We retain enquiry data only as long as necessary to respond and fulfil the requested service. You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing enquiries@ebwebservices.co.uk. Under UK GDPR you also have the right to access, correct, restrict or object to the processing of your data, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office.
05
Cookies
This website uses essential cookies only — session-based tokens required to handle form submissions securely. We do not use:
- Advertising or tracking cookies
- Third-party analytics platforms such as Google Analytics
- Social media tracking pixels
Because no non-essential cookies are in use, no cookie consent banner is displayed. Fonts are served from Google Fonts and imagery is served from the Unsplash CDN; both receive your IP address as a necessary part of delivering those files, and neither is used by us for tracking.
06
Liability
EB Web Services UK endeavours to deliver high-quality, performant and secure digital products. However:
- We are not liable for any indirect, consequential or incidental loss arising from the use of, or inability to use, any website or application we develop.
- We are not responsible for third-party service outages — hosting providers, payment gateways, APIs — affecting a client's website after launch.
- Our total liability in any matter arising from a project is limited to the total fees paid for that specific project.
Websites are delivered in good faith and tested across modern browsers and devices. We cannot guarantee compatibility with legacy browsers or non-standard configurations.
07
Payment terms
EB Web Services UK operates as a sole trader. The following terms apply to all engagements:
- Deposit: 30–50% is required before work commences. The exact amount is confirmed in the project quote.
- Staged payments: for larger projects, milestone-based payments may be agreed at the outset. These become binding once the brief is confirmed in writing.
- Final payment: the outstanding balance is due on project completion, before final files or access credentials are handed over.
- Late payment: invoices are due within 14 days of issue. Overdue invoices incur interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
- Non-payment: we reserve the right to suspend or remove hosted work pending payment. Ownership of all deliverables remains with us until payment is received in full.
All prices are quoted in pounds sterling (GBP) and are exclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated. As a sole trader below the VAT threshold, EB Web Services UK does not currently charge VAT.
08
Cancellation & disputes
Circumstances change. The following applies to project cancellation:
- Cancellation after work has commenced results in a charge for all work completed to date, billed at our standard hourly rate and deducted from the deposit.
- If the deposit does not cover the work completed, an invoice is issued for the outstanding amount.
- Cancellation before work commences entitles the client to a full deposit refund, less any admin or third-party costs already incurred.
- EB Web Services UK reserves the right to cancel a project where a client is abusive, fails to supply necessary content or feedback within 30 days, or fails to make agreed payments.
In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to attempt resolution through direct written communication before involving a third party. This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
09
AI tools disclosure
We believe in full transparency about our development process. AI-assisted tooling forms part of our workflow:
- Code auditing: AI tools including Anthropic Claude and Google Gemini are used to audit code structure, review logic, identify potential bugs and suggest optimisations. This is a quality-assurance step, not a primary development method.
- All final code is reviewed, tested and verified by a human developer before delivery. We do not ship AI-generated code that has not been understood, validated and approved.
- Design and creative work is produced by EB Web Services UK using standard design tooling. AI image or content generation is not used in client deliverables unless explicitly agreed in writing.
- Data submitted to AI tools: when auditing code we ensure no personally identifiable client or end-user data is included in prompts. Only structural and logical code is reviewed this way.
If you have specific requirements around AI tooling — including a preference for none at any stage — raise it before work commences and we will accommodate it.
